99 NEWS FOR MONDAY, JUNE 6TH 2011 POTSDAM SCHOOL SUPER SAYS NEW YORK CLOSER TO IMPLEMENTING TOUGHER NATIONAL STANDARDS--Pat Brady told the Board of Education recently a coalition of State Governors, including Andrew Cuomo of New York, has agreed on higher national core standards in English-Language Arts and Mathematics. The intent is to make US students more competitive with the Japans, Norways and Swedens of the world that consistently perform better. Brady says the ability to present and speak well is an important component. He says many of the same people that will implement "Race To The Top" will also work on implementing the Common Core Standards. ALSO ONLINE TODAY...
