RUSSELL SAYS GAX TAX HOLIDAY UNLIKELY--118th Assembly District Representative Addie Russell told 99 News Friday a proposed 33-cents-per-gallon break on gas taxes during Memorial Day, 4th of July, and Labor Day weekends will probably not happen. She says the loss of revenue would be unwelcome in the wake of massive budget cuts and the rising cost of fuel for state agencies that run on gas, such as DOT for paving and trucks. This, despite the fact gas taxes are already capped and the state is not getting a windfall from it. Supporters of the break says it would give a needed boost to summer tourism.
