M-W and Chateaugay Claim Upset Wins, Salmon River Comes Back to Shock Potsdam |

SALMON RIVER 56, POTSDAM 55
In one of the more stunning comebacks in girls basketball this season, the top seeded Shamrocks pull out their first Sectional Title in over 20 years.
Down 17 points early in the fourth quarter, Salmon River comes back to win the game on a last second bucket by PEPSI PLAYER OF THE GAME Abby Kelly. Potsdam would have a shot to win the game with 1.3 seconds left with two free thorws,but both were missed to end the game.
EVANS AND WHITE TOUGH AS NAILS PLAYER OF THE GAME Veronica Sapp lifted Potsdam to an eight point hafltime lead with 15 first half points. Salmon River closed the gap to six in the third but the Stoners went on a 16-6 run to go up by 17 early in the fourth quarter.
Salmon River would start to chip away with two consecutive three pointers by Anna Kelly and applied full court press that led to several turnovers.
Sapp went 2 for 2 from the fouline with 22 seconds to play before Karyss Terrance put in a lay up with 7.2 seconds to play to cut the Potsdam lead to 55-54. Salmon River then forced a turnover and Abby Kelly would drive to the glass and make the go ahead bucket with 1.3 seconds remaining. After a Salmon River foul, Potsdam had two chances to tie the game but both foul shots missed ending the contest.
Terrance led the Shamrocks with 15 points and Kelly managed 14. Sapp led all players with 27 points and Rachael Johnson poduced a double double with 13 points and 10 rebounds.

MADRID-WADDINGTON 40, BRUSHTON-MOIRA 31
The Yellow Jackets provided the first upset of the night as defense wins the the Class C crown.
Down three at halftime. Madrid-Waddington started the third on a 9-1 run sparked by PEPSI PLAYER OF THE GAME Brittany Pierce who scored seven of the nine points in the run.
The Panthers kept it close and with one minute to go Jessica Jaques hit a jumper with one minute left to go cut the Jacket lead to one at 32-31. With the lead and the ball, SUBWAY SUB OF THE GAME Shelby Gausby hit a crucial three pointer that pushed the lead to four late as the Jackets won the game from the foul line.
Pierce ended the game with 16 points for Madrid-Waddington. Hayley Gary led Brushton-Moira with two threes and eight points. Kelsey Manchester pulled down eight boards and scored four to earn EVANS AND WHITE TOUGH AS NAILS PLAYER OF THE GAME.

CLASS D GIRLS FINAL

A stingy Bulldog defense helps down the top seed in Class D title game.
Holding the Green Demons to only six points by halftime, the Bulldogs would expand a five point halftime lead to ten after three quarters and to 14 within the fourth.
In the third, SUBWAY SUB OF THE GAME Hannah Cook forced several steals and scored seven of her nine poins in that frame. PEPSI PLAYER OF THE GAME Courtney Boyea hit two three pointers inclduing a big one late in the fourth, tallying ten in the game.
For Hermon-Dekalb, Brianna Sayer and Kaylee O'Donnell scored five a piece.
