POTSDAM DISSOLUTION STUDY COMMITTEE 'WHAT EXISTS' REPORT NEARLY COMPLETE--Chair Tim Connolly told 99 News the Committee composed of both Town and Village residents charged with developing a document by the end of October, 2012 has almost finished its inventory of Town and Village services. He says the next step will be taking all the information and devloping a scenario of what those services would be like if the Village were to dissolve into the Town. Connolly says the services inventory should be finished by the second week in March.

BRUSHTON MAN JAILED ON CHILD PORN ALLEGATIONS--State Police based in Malone arrested 41-year-old Shawn Noreault Wednesday on counts alleging he both promoted and possessed child pornography. The arrest stemmed from an ongoing computer crimes investigation. Noreault was arraigned and jailed in lieu of 50-thousand-dollars cash bail or 100-thousand-dollars bail bond.

MC.ELHERAN BEQUEST, 1.6 MILLION DOLLARS TO FUND PERFORMANCE SERIES AT CRANE SCHOOL OF MUSIC--The gift from the estate of the late Brock and Jane Mc.Elheran will fund in perpituity a series in collaboration with the Community Performance Series that will bring world-class artists in performance, master-classes, and workshops. Brock and Jane both passed in 2009; Brock was the internationally-famed, longtime conductor of the Crane Chorus. Jane was a long-time librarian at SUNY Potsdam.

CANTON DUPLEX FIRE INVESTIGATION CONTINUES--County Fire Investigator Joe Lacks told us the fire at 3-5 Gouverneur Street Wednesday originated in an apartment attached to the rear of the duplex after the rest of the structure was built. The long-vacant house is owned by Harriet Johnston of Babylon, NY who no longer has ties to the house besides her ownership. Lacks says the cause of the blaze is yet to be determined.
