HANNAWA FALLS WOMAN ACCUSED OF STEALING CASH, LIQUOR, AND BEER FROM POTSDAM VFW POST--Potsdam Police arrested 19-year-old Cassidy Ann Hamilton Wednesday on misdemeanor couts of possessing stolen property and petit larceny. She was employed as a bartender at the Market Street post until last month. Hamilton allegedly swiped over 900 dollars from the post 'Bell Jar' fund--the proceeds of pull tab sales that are used to assist needy veterans and contribute to many other charities like Toys For Tots. She also allegedly made off with alcoholic beverages through a scheme to avoid being caught on surveillance video. Commander Bob Staires told 99 News Hamilton worked at the post under an alias. He says '...it takes a special kind of person to steal from veterans.." Hamilton was arraigned before Village Justice Nicholas Pignone and jailed in lieu of 500 dollars cash bail or a thousand dollars bail bond.
