NEW POTSDAM HOLIDAY TREE DEDICATED SUNDAY--The new tree behind the Potsdam Public Museum was planted about 5 years ago. A tree further back behind the Civic Center that was lit for many decades was cut down to make way for the Public Safety Complex. In the meantime, a tree adjacent to the Potsdam Fire Department was lit. Yesterday's ceremonies consisted of a blessing by Presbyterian Pastor Dr. D. Richard Will, and the annual holiday message by Mayor Reinhold 'Ron' Tischler. Customary entertainment from Potsdam Central School and refreshments in the museum followed.
HUNTING ACCIDENT VICTIM CALLED 911 HIMSELF, SOURCES SAY--40-year-old Shawn Bergeron of Heuvelton received a gunshot wound through the back to his outer rib cage about 2:20 Sunday afternoon at a spot off the Black Lake Road, or County Route 6 in the Town of Oswegatchie. Bergeron was transported by ambulance to Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center in Ogdensburg, treated and released. State Police and ENCON Police are still investigating the accident, with charges pending.
