THREE-TIME FELON CHARGED IN MASSENA ROBBERY CASE--39-year-old Robert Yekel of County Route 42 in Massena was arrested by Village Police Friday on a count of felony, third degree robbery alleging he held up the South Main Street Sunoco Mini-Mart early last Saturday morning, making off with 170 dollars in cash after he told the clerk he had a gun. Yekel was arraigned and committed to county lockup in Canton without bail because of three previous felony convictions. A check with the jail this morning revealed Yekel was additionally charged with unlawfully fleeing a police officer, he was levied a thousand dollars bail for that charge but would not be freed from jail if it were posted.

"BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU WISH FOR" IF YOU WANT THE FISHING ECONOMY IN ST.LAWRENCE COUNTY, EXECUTIVE SAYS--Jack Pieschl, the head of marketing for US Reel told stakeholders in Canton Tuesday fishing and fishing-related tourism brings untold millions of dollars to the economy of Lake of the Ozarks, Missouri; but there's a cost--a lack of peace and quiet. However, he says if managed properly it can bring great benefits. He says some communities in his home area have no property tax, thanks to fishing and the money it generates.

NORFOLK MAN WINS BIG LOTTERY JACKPOT--North Country Now is reporting Floyd Harvey of Norfolk reportedly scratched off a 20-dollar "Life Spectacular" ticket he bought at Fefee's Market Thursday morning, and won 10-thousand dollars a week for life..a lifetime total of more than 12.3 million-dollars. The win has yet to be made official by New York Lottery.
