EMPIRE STATE GAMES CANCELLED FOR SECOND TIME IN THREE YEARS
According to a report in the Poughkeepsie Journal, Empire State Games Administrator Lisa Del Signore sent a letter to ESG athletes comfirming the states decision to cancel the 2011 Summer and Winter Empire State Games.  With budget cuts in the NYS Parks and Recreation Department and the lay-off of two employees plus the reassignment of three others, there is no or staff to support the games.  The Games were canned in 2009 when the Hudson Valley region were to host but made a comeback in 2010 in Buffalo when First Niagara FInancial dropped $500,000 in support.
