GULF WAR SYNDROME RESEARCH FUNDED--Dr.David Carpenter, SUNY Albany Professor of Public Health Sciences told a public audience in Canton Tuesday he and colleagues in Baltimore, Maryland have been awarded a 300-thousand-dollar grant to study whether a homeopathic treatment for Gulf War Syndrome is effective, or not. The treatment combines doses of Vitamin B3, or Niacin, and sauna therapy. About a third of 1991 Gulf War servicemembers and civilians suffer from headaches, fatigue, muscle and joint pain, and immune system breakdowns. Close proximity to chemical sites and combat sites using chemicals is believed to be a link.
