OFA Boys Storm Back To Avoid Upset To Salmon River

99 SPORTS FEATURE GAME ON 99.3 FM WSNN

CLASS B BOYS SOCCER SEMIFINAL

OFA 2, SALMON RIVER 1

A near upset of the top seed in the Class B sees the Blue Devils porduce a stirring comeback at Massena Central.

After spotting Salmon River the first goal of the game and reeling through a 25 minute injury timeout, OFA got the break they needed as a hand ball called in the defensive zone on the Shamrocks gave PEPSI PLAYER OF THE GAME Grant Prudomme a change to tie the game with 8:23 to play in regulation. He scored on a penalty kick to tie the game at one and then under three minutes later scored on a 40 yard dash towards goal to put the top seeded Devils in the lead.

SUBWAY SUB OF THE GAME Adam Bomberry gave Salmon River the lead 22:50 into the contest. The Shamrocks would continue to frustrate the Blue DevilS until a hand ball was called that gave Prudomme the chance to score

Tyler Carrow stopped three in the win for OFA while Salmon River's matt Healy halted six shots. the Blue Devils advance to play Potsdam for the Class B crown on Friday.

A big rivalry game that came down to the final minutes as Potsdam advances to defend their Sectional championship.

PEPSI PLAYER OF THE GAME Scott Bartenstien scored from Ryan Merriman with four minutes to go to lift the Stoners to the victory. SUBWAY SUB OF THE GAME Sebastian Grimberg would stop 3 in the shut for Potsdam while EVANS AND WHITE TOUGH AS NAILS PLAYER OF THE GAME Jake Newman stopped nine for the Golden Bears.

Potsdam tangles with OFA on Friday for the Class B crown.
