99 NEWS HEADLINES FOR SATURDAY, 10/30/10

CAR SUBMERGED IN SWAMP NEAR HEUVELTON, DRIVER-PASSENGERS SOUGHT--State Police in Ogdensburg say a passerby spotted a car in the swamp on Irish Settlement Road in the Town of Oswegatchie, about half a mile off Route 68 about 6 this morning. An exhaustive search by the St.Lawrence County Dive Team, Heuvelton Fire Department and First Responders, Lisbon Rescue and Ogdensburg Rescue ensued...nobody was located at or near the scene. The car is a Ford Mustang. Anyone with information about who may have been driving or any passengers is asked to call State Police in Canton, 379-0012.

MASSACHUSETTS MAN STEALS CASH FROM YOUTH DRUG PREVENTION PROGRAM, FIGHTS WITH POLICE, JAILED--Massena Village Police say 19-year-old Adam Chelluk of Brockton, MA allegedly swiped 43-hundred dollars and took off for Massachusetts using an alias. Chelluk allegedly fought with police when confronted Friday morning. Chelluk was charged with a felony count of Grand Larceny and other counts, arraigned and jailed on 10-thousand dollars bail.

ARREST MADE FOR POTSDAM HUMANE SOCIETY ANIMAL SHELTER BREAKIN--Village Police picked up 48-year-old Thomas Mauck, a vagrant from Illinois Friday on two felony burglary counts, a felony criminal mischief charge, and other counts alleging he cut and damaged screens, cages, and a door at the shelter on Madrid Avenue so he could swipe a stray dog. Mauck was also found to have allegedly burglarized a residence. Mauck was arraigned and jailed on 5-thousand dollars bail.
