99 NEWS HEADLINES FOR THURSDAY, 10/21/10

FIRE DAMAGES SANFORDVILLE APARTMENT HOUSE--West Stockholm firefighters and mutual aid were called at 6:11pm to 8751 US Route 11, near Pickle Street. One person was treated for smoke inhalation; other details were not available. West Stockholm Fire Department secured at 7:17pm.

NO CHILDREN SERIOUSLY HURT IN GOUVERNEUR VAN-SCHOOL BUS CRASH--Numerous ambulances, firefighters, state and village police were called to Battle Hill Road Wednesday afternoon, after a minivan driven by 16-year-old Jordon Mandigo of Gouverneur collided with a Gouverneur school bus carrying 32 passengers. Six children received minor injuries treated at EJ Noble Hospital. School staff were able to drive the bus from the scene. The driver of the bus, 64-year-old harry Idzenga was not hurt. Troopers say charges are pending.

RIVER DISTRICT ASSEMBLY CANDIDATES TACKLE THE 'ONE JOB' QUESTION--Democratic incumbent Addie Russell and Republican challenger David Forsythe were on the Clarkson University campus Wednesday for a league of Women Voters question-and-answer forum. If they had the power to create one job immediately, what sector of the economy would be in, and why? Russell says child care, because that allows companies looking for a workforce to fill positions, and families to be able to afford to go to work. Forsythe says a tourism-related job, a one-person operation with growth potential that gives many other sectors activity.
