'GREEN JOBS' SLOW IN COMING TO THE NORTH COUNTRY, BUT PICTURE IMPROVING--Klaus Proemm, a professional in the field of assisting unemployed people, told 99 News while he was volunteering at the Local Living Fair at the Cornell Cooperative Extension Learning Farm in Canton Saturday, that so-called 'green building' jobs in construction, weatherization, and management of environmentally-friendly projects have not arrived in the North Country as fast as they have in other places. This is because the overall economy has been slow, and a lot of the information is new and it's taken longer for professionals to get up to speed. A number of local building projects, like the two going on at SUNY Canton at present are 'green,' as they use environmentally-friendly materials and employ practices toward LEED certification.
