VOICE MIMIC SCAM CONTINUIES TO TARGET LOCAL RESIDENTS--A Potsdam resident called us Monday to tell us she got a call from someone whom she thought was her grandson, who said he needed bail money to get out of jail in Ontario. The place in Ontario was not specified, the story on bail amounts varied and the the address to wire the money was in Haiti. The mimics find audio or video on the internet from people in their late teens or early 20's, and target those people's grandparents.

AMISH CHILD PERISHES IN HELENA ACCIDENT--A 6-year-old boy was struck by a vehicle and killed Monday afternoon as he was crossing the road in front of his residence on County Route 37, just a few feet from the St.Lawrence-Franklin County line. The afternoon accident is still under investigation.

MASSENA MAN KILLED IN DRIVEWAY AUTO REPAIR MISHAP--45-year-old Leo Francis received fatal injuries Saturday afternoon when a vehicle he was working on in his Bayley Road driveway fell off the jack and landed on top of him. Francis was declared dead at the scene by St.Lawrence County Croner Phil Brown. Village Police say Francis was fixing a tailpipe on a vehicle belonging to his girlfriend's daughter.

FOUR FELONY ARRESTS FROM GOUVERNEUR GANG ASSAULT--A 17-year-old boy was beaten early Sunday morning, allegedly by 20-year-old Shayne Miller, 17-year-old Alivia Vaughns, 18-year-old Brittany Miller, and 16-year-old Pamela Fifield. All four were arraigned and jailed on 5000 dollars cash bail or 10-thousand dollars bail bond. The victim and Shayne Miller were apparently in an altercation earlier in the day.

JAIL INMATE ASSAULT ALLEGATIONS BRING FELONY ARREST--35-year-old Jermaine Kidd of Potsdam was arrested recently on an assault charge alleging he assaulted another inmate while incarcerated on felony domestic violence charges that are still pending. Kidd was released to probation supervision so he can attend rehab.

CONTRACTOR FRAUD ALLEGATIONS MEAN GRAND LARCENY ARREST FOR HEUVELTON MAN--Sheriff's Deputies say 40-year-old Ronald Green of Wilson St. allegedly took 2600 dollars for electrical work that was never done, and he failed to give the money back. Green was released to appear in Dekalb Town Court.
