DOHENY SUPPORTS FLAT TAX--23rd Congressional District Candidate Matt Doheny says he supports making income tax brackets as flat as posssible. He says having a flat tax eliminates government bureaucracy associated with multiple brackets. Doug Hoffman, Doheny's primary opponent for the GOP line to run against Bill Owens in November has been offered an equal time opportunity and we expect to interview him today.

CHILD ABDUCTION ATTEMPT REPORTED IN PARISHVILLE, POSSIBLY IN MASSENA--The web site North Country Now is reporting a case where a gray-haired man was conversing with children on a lawn in Parishville, and that he took off in a white van when confronted. A similar report has come in from Massena to various law enforcement agencies, but it has yet to be confirmed.

POTSDAM POLICE ARREST O'BURG WOMAN WITH ALLEGED BAC OVER 3 TIMES LEGAL LIMIT--Police stopped a vehicle on Maple Street late Thursday night after it was spotted allegedly going 47 in a 30. The driver, 44-year-old Tina Maccaroni allegedly had a blood-alcohol content of .25%--the legal limit in New York is .08. Maccaroni was charged with Aggravated DWI, another misdemeanor DWI, speeding and unlicensed operation. She was released on court appearance tickets.

BIG BUCKS WON IN AKWESASNE SLOT MACHINE JACKPOT--Cathy Adams, a food-service worker from Plattsburgh won 90-thousand dollars playing a penny slot machine in the Akwesasne Mohawk Casino's "Super Jackpot" this past Sunday. A casino spokesman told the Plattsburgh Press-Republican the win is the second-highest ever on that level of the game.

MADRID TEENS IMPLICATED WITH GARAGE BURGLARY, THEFTS--Sheriff's Investigators say 17-year-old Christopher Lamb allegedly broke into the garage and took tools, a safe, and a fishing pole while his 19-year-old brother Timothy lamb kept watch outside with full knowledge of the activity. Both were charged with felony second degree burglary and misdemeanor petit larceny, arraigned and jailed on 2500 dollars cash bail or 5-thousand dollars bond with a return date Monday.
