LIONS CLUB RADIO WEEK ON 99 HITS AND WPDM--The Potsdam Lions Club has sold thousands of dollars worth of time we donate to the club; the money generated from the advertising sales to sponsors pays for many community efforts by the Lions, such as their well-known vision assistance programs and many other endeavors. CANTON CENTRAL SCHOOL TAXPAYERS SEE LEVY AND RATE DROP--The Board of Education voted last week to reduce the rate hike for the new school year from $17.96 per thousand, instead of the anticipated $18.32 for most taxing entities within the district. This is the result of a levy hike drop from 3.77 percent to 1.75. Expenses lower than anticipated are the reason. DOG NEGLECT ALLEGATIONS BRING CHARGES IN NORFOLK--Sheriff's Deputies say 24-year-old Paula Gurrola of Grantville Road allegedly failed to provide adequate food, shelter, or medical care for 3 dogs. Two of the dogs were surrendered to animal control. Gurrola was released on tickets to appear in Town Court on Ag and Markets counts. no obituaries today
