99 NEWS HEADLINES FOR FRIDAY, 8/13/10 POTSDAM TOWN COUNCIL SUPPORTS PAPER COMPANY RAIL SPUR--The Council agreed this week to fulfill a request by Potsdam Specialty Paper management to write a letter similar to that from the St.Lawrence County IDA, supporting the refurbishment of a spur off the main CSX rail line to the plant in Unionville. Supervisor Marie Regan says the plant stands to save six-figures the first year alone by switching to train in lieu of truck shipments of paper-making chemicals. The project is soon complete; Regan says PSP will also construct a loading dock in its parking lot so other companies can take advantage of train shipments, saving them money too.
