LEGGIO BACK IN NORTH AMERICA AS HE SIGNS WITH BUFFALO
Former Clarkson goalie David Leggio has signed a one-year deal with the Buffalo Sabres
Leggio, 26, played in Finland last season, winning the SM-Liiga – Finland’s top league – championship with TPS, going 5-2-0 during the playoff run with a 1.58 GAA and .942 save percentage.
In 2007-08, Leggio played in the ECHL with the Florida Everblades where he played 39 games, going 27-7-3 with a 2.26 GAA and .916 save percentage as the Everblades won the Brabham Cup as ECHL regular-season champions.
The Williamsville, NY native played four years for Clarkson University where he tallied a 59-29-12 with a .922 save percentage and a 2.30 GAA. In 2006-07, he led the Golden Knights to an ECAC championship where he was named team MVP, ECAC Goaltender of the Year and was on the ECAC’s First All-Star Team.
CLARKSON WOMEN'S STAR LOOKS TO MAKE TEAM CANADA
Katelyn Ptolemy, a standout veteran for the Clarkson University Women’s Hockey team, and Eric Howe and Jamie-Lee Rattray, two promising Golden Knights recruits, are currently participating in Canada’s prestigious Under-22 Camp which began on August 7 at MasterCard Centre in Toronto, ONT.. Ptolemy is defenseman from Dinsmore, SASK., who is entering her junior year at Clarkson. A native of Orleans, ONT, Howe is an incoming freshman goaltender. Rattray, who will join Howe this season at Clarkson, is a forward from Kanata, Ont.
At the camp’s conclusion, 22 players will be selected for Canada’s National Women’s Under-22 Team and 22 players will be chosen for Canada’s National Women’s Under-18 Team. The two newly selected teams will then face off against each other at 7:15 p.m. ET on August 16 inside the MasterCard Centre.
Both national teams will also play in a three-game series against the United States from August 18-21. Canada’s National Women’s Under-22 Team will remain in Toronto to take on the United States’ Women’s Under-22 Select Team at the MasterCard Centre, while Canada’s National Women’s Under-18 Team will travel south to Lake Placid, N.Y., where it will face the United States’ Women’s Under-18 Select Team.
