Sports Report 7-30: Tough Loss for SLFCU U14

In a game that was a lot closer than the score would suggest, the St. Lawrence Federal Credit Union Under 14 team fell to a formidable foe in the Canton Bears by a score of 5-1.  SLFCU played with just 13 players and feel behind early 1-0.  Natalie Giglio tied the game at 1-1 with a shot from 22 yards out.  Peyton Lalone earned the assist on Giglio’s goal.  The Bears scored the go ahead goal right before the half which put the score at 2-1.  The Bears never looked back.  Tristen Moore and Matt Shollette were busy in goal stopping 15 shots in the game.

 

In Women’s Softball action previously unbeaten Phoenix on the Bay got their first taste of defeat after blowing a late 3-run lead and lost to Duff’s I 9-8.  Lori LaRue crushed a 3-run home-run to tie the game for Duff’s.  Following a walk to Kendra Moran, Brittany Kenyon delivered the game winning hit.  LaRue had a big day at the plate adding a triple and two singles to her clutch 3-run blast.  Deb Knapp and Kendra Moran each singled twice and doubled.  The potent Phoenix offense was led by Ginnelle Morley who slugged a home-run and hit three singles.  Megan McNamara was huge at the plate collecting five base hits including three singles and two doubles.

 

In a high scoring affair Nig’s Tavern outlasted Oscar’s 16-15.  Brady Bogardus was big at the dish hitting four singles and a double for Nig’s.  Kersten Massia also contributed to the victory by hitting four singles as did Andrea Duvall who hit two singles and legged out a triple.  Oscar’s also saw one of their players tally five base hits for game with Alyson Bixby notching five singles.  Erin O’Marah, Sherri Wood, Taylor Amo, Renee Robinson, and Kara Pharaoh also were huge for Oscar’s hitting three singles each.

 

In Murry’s Thursday Nite Twin Brooks Golf league action Dan Dinneen followed his three-under 32 of last week by shooting a four under par 32 on the front nine of the course.  Dinneen shot birdies on the 1st, 2nd, 4th, 6th, and 7th holes.
