Ottawa defeated the Ogdensburg 12 and under Maples in the championship game of the Jim Pinkerton Memorial Little League tournament over the weekend.  Ottawa was sparked by two big innings on their way to a 16-2 rout of the Maples.  Ottawa scored five runs in the second inning and then six more in sixth on their way to victory.  Ogdensburg defeated Massena 4-3 in order to move on to the final game.  Against Ottawa Connor Badlam hit a double and single while Dakota Brady hit two singles.  Andrew Woodard hit a solo home-run in the bottom half of the 5^th inning which proved to be the winning run in their previous game against Massena.

On the racetrack, Todd Stone of Middlebury, VT held off Gage Morin to capture his first Frenchie's Chevrolet DIRTcar 358 Modified feature win of the season on Aaron's Sales and Leasing night at Mohawk International Raceway on Friday night.  Joey Ladouceur of Alexandria, ONT bested long-time rival Louie "Action" Jackson to win the Mohawk Race Parts Pro Stock Tour 50-lap feature for his first win of the year at MIR, while Chris Raabe won his eighth DIRTcar Sportsman feature and Joey Foster won his ninth Bandit feature in ten starts.

On Thursday August 10^th the Northern New York Men’s and Women’s Senior Golf Championship will be held at the Massena Country Club.  The tournament is being sponsored by Community Bank N.A. and will have over $3,500 in prizes awarded to the net, gross, and special prize winners.  The tournament will be divided into six groups: 50-54 years of age, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, and 75 years and older.  The day begins with a 12:30pm shotgun start and will conclude with dinner and an awards ceremony at approx. 5:30pm.  The entry fee includes cart fee and is $47 for Massena Country Club Members and $65 for non-members.  The deadline for entries is Monday August 9^th.  For more info please contact the Massena Country Club pro shop at 315-769-2293.
