Malone and Plattsburgh earned the top two seeds in the 10 and under division while the Ogdensburg Maples and Ottawa earned the number one and two seeds in the 12 and under division of the James Pinkerton Kiwanis Club Baseball tournament. The Ogdensburg 10 and under Mini-Maples defeated Knapps Station in a slugfest 16-14. Leading the Maples offense was Jackson Troiano who had 4 singles, Brodie Woods hit 3 singles, and Jarod Barr hit a home-run and added a single of his own. Six pitchers combined to allow 8 hits while striking out 11 for Ogdensburg they were: Cale Sargent, Andrew Woodard, Hayden Ives, Justyn McCormick, Garrett Piercey, and Jarod Barr. The Norfolk Post 925 Rovers American legion District 4 playoff bid ended Saturday in a 12-2 loss to Tri-County of Glens Falls. The Rovers on offense were led by Drew Stone who hit a double and scored a run. Friday night Norfolk lost to Clinton County 14-4. Drew Piercey with the help of Izac Sovie caught a 24 inch catfish to take first place honors in the St. Lawrence Valley Sportsmen’s fishing tournament over the weekend. They released the fish unharmed. Alaina Corrice took second place with a 17 inch carp and Chris Spicer and Joel Conant tied for third with 12.5 inch bullheads. In football action the Massena Silver and Black were shut out by Vermont 13-0 in Empire Football League action. Massena without the services of Mike MacPherson and Buddy Compeau were not able to generate any offense in the game. Leading the Massena defense was Filippo Flocco who had four solo tackles, eight assists along with an interception and a fumble recovery. After 10 weeks of Men’s Golf League action at the St. Lawrence State Park the Worden’s Pub foursome of Tom and Nick Cobb, Roy Bice and Trent Worden have captured 1st place in the league with a 60-63 lead over Northern Physical Therapy. Worden’s Pub finished in a three-way tie in Week 10 with a -11 score. State Golf Combination took 1st place with a -14 score.
