The Ogdensburg Maples rallied to defeat the Cape Vincent American Legion baseball team by a final score of 7-6. A super relief effort from Quincy Wood made the rally possible. Wood came on in relief with the score sitting at 6-2 in favor of Cape Vincent and proceeded to pitch five scoreless innings while allowing only one hit and issuing two walks. The Maples got within two runs by scoring two in the 6th inning and then scored 3 in the 7th to take the lead. Dave Putman made a diving catch in center field to help preserve the one run lead in the bottom of the 7th. The game was tied in the top of the 7th on a sacrifice fly from Putman following singles from Jesse Hargrave and Quincy Wood and a walk from Nate Minckler. Minckler scored the game winning run from 3rd on a double steal situation. In Ogdensburg Women’s Softball action Nig’s defeated Howies by a score of 6-2. Kerstin Massia led the offense for Nig’s with a double and a single while Jen Dashnaw, Andrea Duvall, and Tracy Lalonde all singled twice. Howies was led by Savannah and Katie Nelson who each singled and doubled. Nig’s also defeated The Bowl by a score of 9-3. For Nig’s Katelyn Sayer-Hall belted a home-run and added a single while Brandy Bogardus legged out a triple and a double and Erin MacMartin who connected with two singles and a double. The Bowl was led offensively by Liz Kennedy, Dana Mehaffy, Shelby Amo, and Jessilyn Kennedy who all singled. Duff’s I dominated The Place 11-4. Lori LaRue had a huge day at the plate hitting a home-run, a triple, and two singles. Kendra Moran also had a good day at bat for Duff’s by slugging a double and reaching safely on three singles. Angie Burke, Lisa Roberts, Julianna Backus, Angie Caufield, and Stacy Kinney all hit singles for The Place. In Seaway Slo Pitch Softball action The Place II slugged out a victory over Myers Pub I by a score of 14-9. The second game between Myers I and Myers Guns and Hoses was rained out. Brookin Decker led The Place II with two doubles, a triple, and a single. Bryan Wood raced for two triples and a single while Chris Fitzgerald also added a triple to the Place II’s attack. Myer’s Pub was led by Brookes Brenno and Chuck Langely who each hit three singles.
