We are starting off this report on a somber note. 358 Modified Star Mitch Jock passed away last week. Jock was struck with an illness over the winter however was still deeply active in racing including competing in several events early this spring. Mitch was well respected by competitors and very popular with the fans, he was considered to be one of the sports rising stars. In action on the track, Carey Terrance passed Perry Francis on inside of 28 and motored his way to victory lane in the Frenchie’s Chevrolet Independence 35 at the Mohawk International Raceway. This was Terrance’s fifth Frenchie’s Chevrolet DIRTcar 358 Modified win of the season. Chris Raabe won his seventh DIRTcar Sportsman’s win, Ricky Thompson recorded his third DIRTcar Pro Stock win, and Joey Foster captured his eighth win in the Bandit series. In Lacrosse action, The Northern New York Box Lacrosse League faced off for its 21st season Monday night at the Tri-Town arena. Once again the league features Elementary, High School, and Adult divisions. In the elementary division Adirondack Akaido defeated Dow Electric 11-6. Alex Berg scored 4 goals in the game and earned Player of the Game status for Akaido. Owen Kowalchuk stopped three shots in goal and earned the Win. Dow Electric was led by Hunter Arquiett who earned player of the game in a losing effort. In the High school division Ron’s Agridrainage got past King Coat Sealing by a score of 11-9. Zach Baldwin earned Player of the Game honors for the victors by scoring 3 goals and adding an assist. King Coat was led by their Player of the game Tyler Kowalchuk who scored 3 goals. B-W Quick Stop scored 17 goals in a winning effort over Hacker’s Sports who scored 11. The Player of the Game for B-W was Lucas Arquiett who scored 6 goals and tallied an assist. Dylan Patterson scored 4 goals and earned player of the game honors for Hacker’s Sports. In the Adult division the Reds defeated the Whites 23-20. The Reds were led by Jack Keenan and Nate Cole who each scored 4 goals and notched 3 assists. On the other side Josh Favra scored 5 goals in a losing effort. And finally the North Country Women’s Soccer League All-Star will be played tonight at 6:30 at SUNY Potsdam. Stay Tuned for the complete rosters for each team after these messages from our sponsors.
