Softball and Soccer action headline the Sports Report for 6-26

In the St. Lawrence Women’s Soccer League Heuvelton shut out Ton’s by a score of 4-0.  Riane Fletcher scored a pair of goals while Megan Davis and Becky Kelley each pitched in a goal.  Elisha DeJesus stopped all 10 shots she faced for the shut-out.

 

McDuff’s also won via shut-out over Ogdensburg Ashley’s 6-0.  McDuff’s featured a balanced offense with each goal coming from a different player.  Desi Webster, Vanessa Wescott, Monique Cornet, Kaila Maguire, Anita Francis, and Megan Emlaw scored the goals fro McDuff’s while Katie Thomas Moody was a brick wall in goal.

 

FC Freeze was frozen by Dow’s Electric losing 1-0.  Megan Bicknell’s first half goal proved to be the deciding factor.  With an outstanding performance Stephanie Collins stopped 15 shots earning a shut-out.  Also with a solid performance in goal Alex Weston stopped 3 shots for the Freeze.

 

Edwards Knox knocked off Norwood-Norfolk 4-1.  The EK attack was spearheaded by Alex Perry who scored 3 goals and Vanessa Bullock also added a goal.  Katie Lashomb scored the single tally for Norwood-Norfolk.

 

In Seaway Slo-Pitch Softball play a match-up between the 1st place and 2nd place teams ended with a 16-8 victory for Phoenix on the Bay over The Place I.  The win widens Phoenix’ lead in the league to 2 games.  For Phoenix Travis LaRock, Andy Dedekker, Jeremy McDonald, and Eric Robinson all singled 3 times.

 

In the Ogdensburg Women’s Softball Association Phoenix on the Bay KO’d Duff’s I 16-5.  Phoenix was lead by Nikki Sharp who slugged a pair of doubles and added a single.  Ginnelle Morley and Megan McNamara both added 4 singles a piece in support of the Phoenix offense.  Lori LaRue and Britteney Kenyon both ripped a triple and a single for Duff’s I.

 

The Place topped Howie’s 9-2.  Julie Backus led The Place attack with a double a two singles.  For Howie’s, Alicia Crowder had 2 singles while Jill Havens and Leanne Frary each had a double.

 

Oscar’s defeated Duff’s II.  Oscar’s offense was led by a 4 hit performance from Jamie Odenhalf who belted a home-run, hit a triple and connected for two singles.  Duff’s was led by Kelly Farrand and Jessica Griffith who each hit a double and a single.
