99 NEWS HEADLINES FOR WEDNESDAY, 6/16/10 ST.REGIS SCHOOL TAXPAYERS REJECT SECOND BUDGET, FORCE CONTINGENCY--Taxpayers say no to a second spending plan Tuesday withy a vote of 140-113. The 7.58 million-dollar proposition had a tax hike of 7.22 percent. Contingency has a tax hike of 7.03 percent. Voters in May said no to a tax hike of more than 9 percent. Superintendent Pat Dovi told the Plattsburgh Press-Republican she doesn't blame the voters; that the state 'failed us' on aid. PROPOSAL FOR MASSENA UAW BUILDING SPARKS HEATED DEBATE--Mayor Randy Delosh suggested the Village take over the auto workers union hall on Andrews Street. Trustees expressed concern over the Village becoming a landlord. The issue was tabled until the next meeting. Related to Massena politics, James Hidy has announced his bid for the Republican line to run for Mayor, setting up a possible primary challenge to Delosh.
