MASSENA WOMAN IN POLICE LOCKUP FOR EARLY-MORNING ARSON--Village Police say 26-year-old Wendy Mc.Gregor allegedly set the house she rented at 7 Bishop Avenue ablaze early this morning; she allegedly left her two children ages 4 and 5 unsupervised, outdoors while she did so. Mc.Gregor was arrested on a felony count of Third Degree Arson, and a misdemeanor child endangerment count. She awaits arraignment later this morning.
POTSDAM MAN PERISHES IN NEBRASKA CRASH--29-year-old Michael Casey, Jr. was killed when the pick-up he was driving crashed into the back of a larger truck on US Route 30 in Columbus, NE late Sunday afternoon. The driver of the rig was not hurt.
WINTHROP WOMAN CHARGED WITH FELONY SEX CRIME, ALLEGEDLY HAD RELATIONS WITH TEEN BOY--18-year-old Kristy Deshane was arrested by Potsdam Police Monday on a count of Second Degree Rape, alleging relations with a 14-year-old May 30th at a residence in Potsdam. Deshane was arraigned before Justice Margaret Garner and released to appear in court next Wednesday.
LISBON SEX FELON FAILS TO REGISTER, JAILED WITHOUT BAIL--Sheriff's Deputies say 70-year-old Level III offender Leon "Bum" Ellis of Fulton Road allegedly failed to submit paperwork to the State Division of Criminal Justice Services as required. Ellis is a predicate felon; Canton Town Justice Cathleen O'Horo could not set bail by law. Ellis was convicted in 2006 of Criminal Sexual Act, for relations with an older man by overpowering him.
