TO SUNY POTSDAM GRADUATES: "DON'T LET CRITICS LIVE RENT-FREE INSIDE YOUR HEAD"--That was the advice of Kathleen Friery, the Executive Producer of Anderson Cooper 360 to baccalaureate degree recipients Sunday. Friery says she was given that advice by her father. Friery says "remember the bumble bee," the fat insect with tiny wings, "Don't let anybody tell you you can't fly."
PRICE CHOPPER STORES OPEN IN POTSDAM, CANTON TODAY--The former Potsdam and Canton P&C locations were renovated by the Schenectady-based grocer in about 6-and-a-half weeks. Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Jerry Golub told 99 News this morning taking an old, run-down building and making it new again offering more than before is something everyone involved should be proud of. Golub says Price Chopper works hard to create a friendly, people-based environment like a family-run business does best. A large crowd was waiting for the opening of the Potsdam store this morning; Golub says the Potsdam store will employ between 175 and 200 people.
HOUSE EXPLODES IN PYRITES SUNDAY, FOUR PEOPLE LOSE THEIR HOME--Trucks from Pyrites Fire Department and many other departments under mutual aid were called about 7:30 last night to 470 Cousintown Road, the residence of Anthony Wright and family. The loss was listed as 'total,' not covered by insurance. Nobody was hurt.
