MASSENA TOWN COUNCIL VOTES IN FAVOR OF RVDA; DESPITE SUPERVISOR'S 'NO' VOTE--Supervisor Joe Gray cast the lone vote Wednesday against the Town giving its nod to the the River Valley Development Agency, the proposed economic development organization for communities along the St.Lawrence Seaway using 20 megawatts from the New York Power Authority from the St.Lawrence-FDR Project in Massena. Gray says Massena has been the State's 'cash cow' for over 50 years, and NYPA was ordered to make the 20MW available, by law and 'it's not a gift'.

MAPLEWOOD RIBBON-CUTTING CEREMONY HELD WEDNESDAY--The new, 29-million-dollar United Helpers campus in Canton serves as a transition between the Partridge Knoll residences nearby, and the Canton Nursing Home which also moved recently to Outer State Street. The project broke ground last October; the new facility has been open a few weeks.

DANC EXEC WRIGHT:"WE WON'T GO WHERE WE'RE NOT WELCOME"--Development Authority of the North Country Executive Director Jim Wright told the gathering for the wrap-up of the first annual North Country Technology Symposium at Clarkson University yesterday efforts to expand broadband into the Adirondacks presents challenges, and the attitude is the same as that of DANC's efforts to expand other utilities.
