99 NEWS HEADLINES FOR TUESDAY, 5/11/10

SCOZZAFAVA: NO CLUE WHEN BUDGET WILL PASS--122nd District Assemblywoman DeDe Scozzafava said in a recent interview there's no indication when the final spending plan will pass. The Legislature voted yesterday to send Governor Paterson an extender package that contains furloughs for 100-thousand unionized state workers. Local Senator Darrel Aubertine voted in favor of the extender with furloughs although he blasted them, saying a veto of an extender without furloughs would cause a total shutdown of state government.

ST.LAWRENCE COUNTY GUARANTEED PLACE ON NYPA BOARD, UNDER GRIFFO BILL--Both St.Lawrence and Niagara Counties would have set spots on the board under legislation offered Monday by local GOP Senator Joe Griffo. The Democratic majority supports it.

WINTHROP FIRE DAMAGES APARTMENT HOUSE--A 12-year-old reportedly set a mattress blaze Monday that fueled a pile of trash underneath the porch of an apartment at 676 Route 11C. Fast work by many firefighters nearby saved the structure.
