MASSENA MAN JAILED FOR DOMESTIC DISPUTE--Village police arrested 23-year-old Matthew Buckshot of Cornell Ave. Sunday night after a domestic dispute at the residence he shares with a female. Buckshot allegedly threatened the woman with a knife, and possibly with a hammer. The extent of injuries was not known. Buckshot was arraigned on felony counts of criminal mischief and contempt, and misdemeanor menacing and assault. Justice James Crandall sent Buckshot to county lockup in lieu of 20-thousand dollars cash bail or 40-thousand dollars bail bond.
SPEED, ALCOHOL, FAILURE TO WEAR SEATBELTS BLAMED FOR DOUBLE-FATALITY FORT COVINGTON CRASH-State Police in Malone say 38-year-old Mark Smoke and 54-year-old Jeffrey David of Hogansburg were ejected from an overturning late-model Cadillac they were traveling in west-bound on Drum Street about 2:45am Sunday. The men were thrown into a vehicle parked in a driveway. The crash is still under investigation.
DISCARDED CIGARETTE BUTT STARTS GRASS, BRUSH-BARN FIRE NEAR HEUVELTON--St.Lawrence County Fire Investigator Joe Lacks says the poorly-handled flaming butt touched off a fire that traveled over 200 yards to the barn owned by Keith Pierce on County Route 6 about 11:15 Friday morning. Crews from Heuvelton and several other departments under the mutual aid system were on the scene for over 7 hours. Damage was termed 'moderate'. No injuries were reported.
