SUPPORT BUILDING FOR CLARKSON LAP-SIT--Clarkson Wellness Coordinator Dan Davis and a representative from the Clarkson Leadership Corps spoke to Potsdam Village Trustees last week about the nationally-publicized attempt coming up April 17th to bring together 4-thousand people and break the US record for lap-sitting. A previous attempt at breaking the Guinness record in 1977 brought 2-thousand in front of the Hamlin-Powers complex. The event will be a fund-raiser for the American Cancer Society. MADRID BREAK-IN PROBE NETS THREE FELONY ARRESTS--Sheriff's deputies arrested 27-year-old Christopher Allen, 20-year-old Sarah Cochran, and 18-year-old Azela Green Saturday in connection with a burglary at a residence on Ruddy Road in Madrid this past January. All three were released on court appearance tickets.
MAJOR GOVERNMENT CONTRACT FOR OGDENSBURG MANUFACTURING PLANT--Allen-Vanguard, the Canadian compamy with its manufacturing space in the OBPA Industrial Park, has been awarded the sole US Dep't of Defense contract for bomb protection suits for about 24-million-dollars.
EIGHT ARRESTS IN WATERTOWN SHOPLIFTING SPREE; ALL FROM GOUVERNEUR--State Police arrested eight people from the village recently in connection with thefts of tens of thousands of dollars worth of merchandise from retailers in the Watertown area. The group is charged with a total of more than 45 counts; more arrests are likely.
