LOWEST TEMPERATURES OF THE SEASON EXPECTED--National Weather Service forecaster Maureen Breitbach in Burlington told us this morning the North Country will get its first taste of trasnpolar, continental air from Siberia after the lake effect snow band passes through, so heavy snow will be followed by bitter cold wind chills in the 22-below zero range or lower for the next several days.
RUSSELL: PRISON OVERCROWDING ARGUMENT A 'FRAUD'--Addie Russell, 118th District Assembly Member representing Ogdensburg Correctional facility told an audience of about 50 community members at the Dobisky Center in the City yesterday the state continues to double-bunk inmates, which means the argument the prison is not needed is bunk. The executive budget released by Governor Paterson earlier this month has Ogdensburg Correctional on a closure list.
OGDENSBURG COCAINE BUST BRINGS THREE 'NOT GUILTY' PLEAS--37-year-old Heather LaFave, 45-year-old Christina Petrie; both of Hammond; and 20-year-old Kassan Crutchfield of Philadelphia, PA were arrested last Thursday on Federal charges alleging cocaine trafficking. All three pled guilty this week before a Federal magistrate. The drugs were found by agents in Petrie's residence on County Route 6 according to the Ogdensburg Journal.
