POTSDAM TRUSTEES APPROVE SNELL PROPERTY ANNEXATION FROM TOWN--The Board voted Monday to approve three resolutions...a negative declaration under SEQR, a PILOT agreement to make the Town of Potsdam whole for about 1277 dollars a year for a 10-year period, and the annexation of the parcel itself. The PILOT agreement was the deal-maker for the Village. The Town must now approve the annexation to make it final. Property owner Jim Snell seeks annexation to get Village utilities, avoiding costly water disinfection measures.

MASSENA STOLEN SNOWMOBILE CASE YIELDS TWO MORE ARRESTS--State Police arrested 25-year-old Bradley Villnave of Massena, an ex-convict; and 19-year-old Rennee Rico of Massena on counts of felony Burglary alleging their role in the theft of the sled from a residence on County Rooute 37. 20-year-old Brian Snyder of Massena was charged with the crime previously. Snyder was arraigned and jailed on 31-thousand dollars bail; Villnave 20-thousand dollars, Rico 8-thousand dollars.

P&C EMPLOYEE UNION FIGHTS PROPOSED PRICE CHOPPER TAKEOVER--United Food and Commercial Workers Union has objected to the Penn Traffic takeover bid, saying there is no arrangement to retain unionized workers, that the deal is contingent upon the union being busted. The union says other bankruptcy cases have proven union contracts were binding on companies that bought other bankrupt companies.

PAQUIN RE-ELECTED COUNTY LEGISLATURE CHAIR, COMMITTEES ALL ON PARTY LINE--Democratic St.Lawrence County Legislature Chairman Gregory Paquin of Massena was re-elected Monday with unanimous vote, without opposition. Democratic Canton Legislator Peter Fitzrandolph replaces Republican Gouverneur Legislator Don Peck as Finance Committee Chair; Democrats Pat Turbett of Potsdam and Sallie Brothers of Norfolk chair Operations and Services, respectively.
