POTSDAM VEHICLE CHASE SUSPECT CAUGHT IN MASSENA--Potsdam Police say 28-year-old Richard Oakes III of Hogansburg was caught recently at the Massena Port of Entry. He allegedly led Village Police on a chase December 12th, that went from Sandstone Drive to Outer Lawrence Avenue, speeds allegedly reached 60mph. Oakes was charged with two counts of speeding and a count of unlawfully fleeing a police officer. He was released on court appearance tickets.
HEAD-ON COLLISION IN GOUVERNEUR SENDS TWO TO SYRACUSE--23-year-old Katherine Straw of Gouverneur and 17-year-old Crystal Tully of Hammond received serious injuries to their legs when the car and pick-up they were driving collided last night on State Route 58. Both were airlifted to Upstate Medical Center. Passengers in both vehicles were not as seriously hurt. The accident is still under investigation by Sheriff's Deputies and Detectives.
STATE AGENCIES TOP-HEAVY, ASSEMBLYWOMAN SAYS--Addie Russell told an audience in Canton last weel it looks like many agency administrators do one 'study' after another, to justify jobs for themselves, with big pay and perks. She says Corrections and Education are two main culprits.
