HOUSE STRUCK BY PICK-UP IN CANTON; NO INJURIES--Canton Village Police say 30-year-old Martin Cooper, Jr. of Riverside Drive in Canton was driving west on Buck Street about 7 Wednesday night when, police say he lost control of the truck. The pick-up crashed into the front porch and side of the Lilholt residence at 14 Buck. Nobody was home at the time; a neighbor called in the accident. Cooper was ticketed for Speed Not Reasonable or Prudent and Inadequate Brakes.

MURDER SUSPECT ADAM MORRIS NOW CHARGED WITH MURDER IN QUEBEC FOR STRIPPER'S DEATH--The 31-year-old fuel truck driver from Malone is accused of killing Natalie Fournier, a dancer at a strip club in St.Mathieu, Quebec near the US border in 2004. Morris allegdly killed Fournier, dumped her body in a sand pit in Malone, and kept her purse as a trophy. He was arrested last year on child porn charges in New York; he made a deal with prosecutors to satisfy those charges by pleading guilty to evidence tampering and possession of stolen property in the Fournier case. Morris appeared in court in Quebec last month; the disposition of the US case allowed a murder case in Quebec to proceed.

GAS BILLS GOING UP FOR SOME IN NORTH COUNTRY NEXT YEAR--St.Lawrence Gas has received permission from the State Public Service Commission to raise rates in 2010, 2011, and 2012. 2010 will see the average customer get a total bill hike of 73 dollars for the year.
