HS BOYS BASKETBALL:

SLC 58 MW 48

Cody Kilcoyne generated a 21 point effort for the Larries including a seven
for seven performance at the foulline. Mike Frohm added 12 points while
Rylan Patraw scored 11 as the Larries overcame a 9-2 deficit early to tie
the game at 33-33 at halftime and scored the first six points of the third
quarter.
Jordan Kendall tallied 13 points to lead M-W¹s scoring and Quinn Shoen
tallied 12 points, 12 rebounds, and two blocks as an interior anchor. Alex
Brock netted six points and six rebounds while Will O¹Bryan grabbed six
boards with four points. Zach Marcellus added seven points and four steals.

Massena¹s team defensive play proved to a dominating force as the
visiting Raiders scored 33 points in the second quarter downing Canton
62-19. Brady Condlin and Troy Myers each scored 13 points for the Raiders
while Trevor Bacon tallied 12.  Pratt for Canton 4 points in the losing effort

Tupper 45 - Gouv 43: . Jacob Klossner and Nick O¹Neil combined for 17 and 14
points. Alex Bush and Marco Carbone led Gouverneur with 12 and 11 points.
Hermon-DeKalb, Lisbon, Hammond, and Harrisville all recorded key early
season NAC West League wins on Monday evening in boys basketball action.

The pace of the first basketball game of the season at OFA¹s Bill Merna
court ranged fast to frantic as the host Blue Devils raced past Malone 71-48
for a 2-0 start to Central League play.
And for Devil Coach Bill Merna the pace was advantageous in two respects.
³We got into a flow tonight where we could use our skills and it also showed
us that we have a lot to work on. We just had too many turnovers, we have to
work on catching and finishing on the break,² said Coach Merna.
³But we needed to come out with much more energy then we did against
Gouverneur and we did that. Gene Bouyer had a lot to do with that and Jake
Rishe gave us a spark hitting his first two shots. Jake didn¹t get chance to
show it tonight but he has been rebounding very well in practice.²
Bouyer delivered 16 of his game-high 20 points in the first half and
supplied 14 rebounds, six assists and five blocked shots to ignite and
sustain a transition game which took control of the contest with a 17-2 run
in the first quarter. Fellow co-captain Owen Luckie provided a big
rebounding effort with eight boards, tallied 13 points on 5-8 shooting while
hitting three of four three-point attempts in the second half, passed out
five assists and snatched three steals.
Jared Morrow delivered an interior double-double scoring 10 points with a
career-high 10 steals complemented by six rebounds and three assists and
Rishe finished with eight points on 4-6 shooting. Sophomore center Jimmy
Tulip also scored eight points on 3-for-3 shooting in the second quarter and
Dave Crowder chipped in with six points.  Malone's dunlavey finishing with 16 points in the losing effort

SRF 43, P-H 39: At Parishville, Joe Destefano hit four three-pointers in
scoring 12 points and Billy LaBounty added 10 points to pace the Saints. For
P-H Nick Avery scored a game-high 13 points.
³They played a very good 2-3 zone and were a little bit more composed
offensively than we were. We ran out of gas a little late in the third
quarter,² said P-H Coach Shawn Spriggs.

B-M 54 SALMON RIVER 40

Chateaugay 63, C-P 24: Eric Dwyer and Ian Henderson each scored 13 points to
lead the Bulldogs. For the ColtsGavin Dominy and Beau Boyden each scored
eight points.

Hammond 43, C-F 39: The Devils won in a physical battle with the Eagles
overcoming a 23-21 halftime deficit for an encouraging 2-0 league record.
³It was a physical game where we rebounded well as a team,² said Hammond
Coach Don Gordon.
Griff Stark Ennis generated 14 points including two three¹s and posted four
rebounds while Ian Mann tallied 13 points and posted four rebounds to lead
the way.
Taylor Kenyon chipped in six boards and 10 points for the winners. Andrew
Gearsbeck hit four three¹s for 14 points to lead the Eagles and Tim
Fetterhoff added 12 points.

Harrisville 63, Heuvelton 44: Balanced scoring paced the Pirates second NAC
West League win as Trevor Stott scored 16 points keyed enchanced by clutch
free throws.
³The key was team rebounding. We boarded well and Gavin Kiggins and Tyler
Davis worked hard underneath,² said Harrisville Coach Brian Coloney.
Jason Thomas added 12 points, Gavin Kiggins posted 11 points and Alec Weir
chipped in 10 points for Harrisville which took a 19-7 first quarter lead.
Colin Baker hit three three¹s for a nine point performance.
David Putman went seven for nine at the foul line in a 14 point effort for
Heuvelton (0-2 West). Al Ashley contributed 12 points with Jessie Hargrave
adding seven.

Lisbon 61, Edwards-Knox 53: Perfect free throw shooting in the contest keyed
the Golden Knights second NAC West League win. Ryan Akins went nine for nine
sparking a 13 point, nine-rebound effort.
³We had a good effort tonight. Ryan (Akins) hit some big free throws down
the stretch and we played pretty good defense,² said LCS Coach Sean Backus.
Eric Mehaffy (nine rebounds, three assists) and Scott Lawton each scored 11
points for the winners who utilized a 22-6 second quarter run to spark the
win.  Nolan Fletcher (seven rebounds), Josh Crawford  and Kyle Binion each
scored seven while  Mike McDonell added five points and three assists for
the winners.
David Bullock erupted for 21 points including a 13-for-17 showing at the
foul line to go with five rebounds for E-K. Jon Davison and Ben Fuller
followed with 11 and 10.
³We got into foul trouble early and with our limited bench tonight,
including two starters out, that didn¹t help.  We¹re looking forward to our
second game with them (Lisbon already),² said E-K Coach Fred Foster.

H-D 96 - MCS 54: The Demons used their depth to maintain control of the
contest led by 26 points and 13 rebounds by Mike Peters, 19 points, five
assists and four steals by Dylan Amo and 16 points and six rebounds by Mike
Wentzel.
³Morristown did a pretty good job at breaking our press. I think our depth
was the difference tonight. We didn¹t lose anything when we went to our
bench,² said H-D Coach Clay Denesha. ³We were able to maintain good
defensive intensity at all times.
Nick Nugent and Jeff King scored 15 and 12 points for Morristown

GIRLS HS BASKETBALL:

A fast start carried the Potsdam Central varsity girls basketball
team to a 45-33 intersectional win at home over Carthage on Monday.
Veronica Sapp led a balanced attack in the win with a game-high 13 points as
the Lady Sandstoners rolled to a 14-1 lead by the end of the first quarter.
B-M 66 - SR 26:Shayna Russell scored 17 points and Chenice Russell chipped
in another 14 as the Lady Panthers worked their way to a 33-14 halftime
lead.

GIRLS HIGH SCHOOL HOCKEY:

OFA student Jessica Denoncourt figured in two third period
goals as Canton rallied to a 2-1 NYS Girls Hockey win over Saranac Lake on
Monday.
Denoncourt combined with Makenzie Lennox to set up Michelle Varney for the
tying goal and scored the game winner from Lennox and Varney.
Madrid-Waddington student Lauri King stopped 10 shots in goal.

The first win of the 2009-10 season for the St. Lawrence
Central girls hockey team now stands as the biggest in the short history of
the Lady Larries.
Sophomore Grace Lyon broke through for three goals and helped to set up the
other three in sparking SLC to a 6-5 win over perennial Upstate New York
Girls High School Hockey powerhouse Salmon River at the Tri-Town Arena on
Monday.
Maggie LaFlame and Brandi Thomas added a goal and two assists each while
Anna Dievendorf accounted for the other SLC goal.
The visiting Lady Shamrocks opened the scoring just 2:33 into the game when
Kawe Francis-Herne finished off a play set up by Teesha Mitchell and Toni
Garrow. The Lady Larries countered with the first of their two three-goal
outbursts starting when Thomas converted from Lyon at the 4:45 mark.
Dievendorf and Lyon then struck for goals just 35 seconds apart to put SLC
ahead 3-1 before Kristi Oakes pulled Salmon River back to within one when
she scored from Francis-Herne with 1:21 left in the opening frame.
Oakes tied the game with the only goal of the second period at the 5:14 mark
off an assist from Garrow but the Larries put together their second
three-goal surge in the third period then held off back-to-back goals by Tia
Mitchell in the final minute to skate away with the win. Lyon scored the
first two goals at 1:05 and 4:33 then combined with Thomas to set up LaFlame
for the eventual game-winner with 3:10 remaining.
Breanne Johnson handled 40 shots backstopping the win while Nancy Cook
recorded nine saves working the crease for Salmon River.
