POTSDAM TRUSTEES GET UPDATE ON WEST DAM HYDRO PROJECT TURBINE PARTS--Village Administrator Mike Weil told the Board Monday he has received more photos of parts that will go into the turbine, once Canadian Turbine pays off suppliers and can get the parts delivered. Wile says he may pursue finding out how much the company owes the suppliers.
MASSENA ROBBERY-ASSAULT-BURGLARY SUSPECT SENTENCED TO PRISON FOR DRUNKEN DRIVING--27-year-old Tapeni LaBrake of Massena, accused of assaulting three people in a drug-related knife incident Sunday, was sentenced by St.Lawrence County Judge Jerome Richards Monday to serve state prison time for Felony DWI. LaBrake violated terms of pre-sentencing release, in that he failed to appear for sentencing on the charge. The Courier-Observer says LaBrake's defense attorney failed to achieve a proposed deal with the court to combine the two cases into one sentencing; Judge Richards denied the motion.
ARSON IN BOMBAY--State Police are investigating the burning of two vehicles, with flames coming close to the LaBarr residence on State Route 95 early Saturday morning. It appears an accelerant was used.
SIX ARRESTS MADE IN SALMON RIVER SCHOOL VANDALISM CASE--State Police continue to investigate the smashing of a window at the school district's bus garage in the town of Fort Covington; four of the arrestees are from the Fort; two from North Carolina.
