ELLIOTT TO BE FIRST ON POTSDAM CENTRAL 'HALL OF DISTINCTION'--Con Elliott, the retired long-time sports director for this radio station and a long-time sports booster will be immortalized with a plaque honoring him at his alma mater. The Board of Education agreed Tuesday Elliott should be so honored; an original suggestion to have the press box at the high school named after him was rejected, as the plaque would not be visible enough. The Hall of Distinction is expected to be somewhere near the high school gym. Elliott, who turned 80 in May still attends almost every Potsdam school sports event.
THIRD ARREST MADE IN CLARKSON HOCKEY RECRUIT SEX CRIME CASE--State Police Investigators recently arrested 19-year-old Demetri Sakaris of Candiac, Quebec on misdemeanor counts of sexual misconduct and endangering the welfare of a child, alleging his role in an incident where an underage female was sexually compromised at a hockey camp this summer. Two other Clarkson Hockey recruits, 18-year-old Jordan Ciccarello and 18-year-old Patrick Mc.Eachen were similarly charged. All three men were relased on court appearance tickets. All three face possible disciplinary action.
COMPTROLLER: STATE HAS MONEY FOR BUSINESS INVESTMENT--State Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli said at the Clarkson University "Forever Wired" Conference yesterday high-tech business ventures are one of the hot-button items the state is seeking to capitalize with pension fund-supported private equity. DiNapoli chose Clarkson as the last stop on his statewide tour to promote the fund.
