CAR-DEER ACCIDENT BRINGS SERIOUS INJURY, SERIOUS CHARGES--Sheriff's Deputies arrested 31-year-old Larry Deshane Saturday night after he struck a deer with a vehicle he was driving with a suspended license on County Route 28, and the vehicle crashed into a tree, trapping front-seat passenger 32-year-old Angel LaPlant. Deshane was found by investigators to have improperly registered as a sex offender; he is on the registry for relations in 1999 with a 5-year-old girl. Deputies say further charges are pending.

OGDENSBURG MAN INDICTED FOR FELONY SEX CRIME--22-year-old Joshua Petell was arraigned Friday on an unsealed St.Lawrence County Grand Jury indictment charging him with first degree sexual abuse, alleging relations with a 5-year-old girl. He was released to probation supervision until future court dates. The Watertown Daily Times says the incident in question took place in the City last fall.

GRIFFO:MAJORITY FACTIONALIZED--GOP State Senator Joe Griffo said Friday, when asked if new Democratic Majority leader Pedro Espada is a person the Minority can work with, that the Democrats have enough problems with party unity within their own ranks, so it's too early to tell if Espada can work across-the-aisle.
