MASSENA SEX CRIME CASE BECOMES MORE SERIOUS--19-year-old Justin Mendies of Stoughton Avenue in Massena, arrested earlier this week on a count of Third Degree Rape and Endangering the Welfare of a Child, was arrested again by Village Police on First Degree Rape and other counts alleging repeated forcible relations with a 14-year-old girl by entering the girl's room through a window this past march.
FOUR CASES OF SWINE FLU CONFIRMED IN ST.LAWRENCE COUNTY--Interim County Public Health Director Debbie Kent told us late yesterday all four victims are recovering, three children and one adult. The children may have gotten the H1N1 virus while on a field trip outside the county; the source of the adult flu contact is not yet known. Other specimins have been sent out for testing; the results have not come in.
NO BAIL FOR PARISHVILLE MAN CHARGED WITH FARM BURGLARIES, CREDIT CARD FRAUD--30-year-old Robert Flynn of County Route 58 was arrested yesterday by Sheriff's Deputies on numerous felonies alleging he burglarized a farm in Lisbon twice earlier this month--the first time stealing cheese, soda, and other items. The second time he was caught by the owner. Flynn also allegedly swiped a Madrid man's credit card and made numerous purchases at a Parishville bar.
GOUVERNEUR MAN IMPLICATED WITH POTSDAM, NORFOLK GUN THEFTS--20-year-old Kevin Brainard is alleged to have stolen pistols from two parked vehicles, one in Potsdam with the help of another person last November, and one in Norfolk last July. Brainard was arraigned Wednesday and jailed on 10-thousand dollars cash bail.
MASSENA MAN INDICTED BY GRAND JURY FOR ROUGHING UP COUNTY COURT SECURITY--42-year-old Terry Derouchie is indicted on a count of Second Degree Assault, alleging he struck court officers in a ruckus involving his ex-wife after St.Lawrence County Family Court in Canton. Derouchie was arrested on the same charge in May, was arraigned and released after posting bail.
