99 NEWS HEADLINES FOR TUESDAY, JUNE 9TH, 2009...power outage in Waddington area; estimated restoration time 9:15am. WEATHER RADIO DEDICATED MONDAY: The National Weather Service All-Hazards radio transmitter is on White Hill in Parishville using the tower of St.Lawrence-Lewis BOCES; a formal introduction ceremony was held Monday at BOCES headquarters in Canton. The frequency is 162.525 mhz. The service provides conditions, forecasts and alerts 24 hours a day. Much of Northern New York was unserved by the weather radio, until now. St.Lawrence and portions of Jefferson and Franklin are now covered. CANTON HACKETT'S LOCATION TO CLOSE; COMPANY GETS FINANCING--Sources told 99 News yesterday the Hackett's location in the University Plaza will close July 15th. This, while its parent organization, Seaway Valley Capital Corporation secures 20 million dollars to pay off vendors and avoid bankruptcy. PORTION OF BRIDGE REOPENED--The northern span of the Massena-Cornwall International Bridge was opened back up Saturday to limited traffic, mostly for Canadian Native business-related functions. Otherwise, the bridge has remained closed since June 1st with no signs of traffic being restored. The issue of arming Canadian Customs officers has not been resolved. OBITUARIES: none today
