Potsdam Girls Lax Wins First Ever Section Crown, Potsdam Baseball Repeats As Class B Champions

CLASS C GIRLS LACROSSE FINAL

POTSDAM 10, CANTON 7

In only their second year of existance, the Lady Stoners claim their first ever Sectional trophy in Girls Lacrosse.

Early on the Golden Bears would score the first four goals and dominate play the first five minutes.  Potsdam turned the tables with six straight to end the half as PEPSI PLAYER OF THE GAME Tess Curry and Monique Cornett each scored twice in the stretch. 

Canton made it 6-5 ealry on in the second before Potsdam expanded the lead to three with goals by Cassie Grace and Kanika Misra.

With under 10 minutes to play, Katherine Sweeney scored in front to make it an 8-7 game but Potsdam responded with two more from Kaila McGuire to finsh out the scoring.

SUBWAY SUB OF THE GAME Abbie Adams held the Canton in check after the first four goals of the first with 11 in the game.  Sara Baker stopped 11 for Potsdam.  Potsdam advances to NYS play on Saturday.

CLASS B BASEBALL FINAL

POTSDAM 7, OFA 3

For the second year in a row the Potsdam Sandstoners upset OFA in the Class B championship.

Breaking a 2-2 tie in the John Coleman belted a two run double and Seth Hinman knocked home two with a  single to up 6-2.  More than enough for the victorious PEPSI PLAYER OF THE GAME Chris Reece who went he distance on the mound scattering six hits and striking out three.  He helped his own cause with an RBI double in the first.

SUBWAY SUB OF THE GAME Ryan Arno stroked three singles and scored a run as Todd Sharlow also doubled.  

For OFA, Gene Bouyer tripled and scored in the first inning while Jarred Morrow doubled in the seventh.  Jake Ladacoeur went 5.2 innings striking out seven.  Jimmy Semarco came on to pitch 1.2 innings striking out two.
