FOUR ARRESTED IN POTSDAM GANG ASSAULT CASE--Village Police arrested 19-year-old Brandon Lottie of Canton, 19-year-old Michael Dihrberg of Canton, 23-year-old Bradley Matthews of Canton, and 18-year-old Brandyn Jerome of Potsdam late Monday night after they allegedly plotted to assault a male victim, who was found with injuries on Raymond Street about 9:50pm Monday. All four were charged with Felony Attempted Gang Assault, and lesser counts of Criminal Mischief and Conspiracy. All were arraigned and jailed; Dihrberg and Matthews on 5-thousand dollars bail, Lottie on 1500 dollars cash or 3-thousand dollars bond, and Jerome on a thousand dollars cash.
ST. LAWRENCE COUNTY LEGISLATORS GET UPDATE ON NATIVE LAND CLAIM--The Board met in executive session Monday with attorneys and other stakeholders about the latest issues related to the land claim. St.Lawrence County refused to enter into the agreement several years ago. County Administrator Karen St.Hilaire told reporters Monday the action remains 'stayed'. Of interest is a parcel near the Akwesasne Mohawk Casino reportedly 'reclaimed' by Mohawks from the Montreal, Quebec region.
BRIDGE REMAINS CLOSED BY MOHAWK PROTEST--Mohawks angered by the arming of Canadian border guards have encircled Canadian Customs at the Seaway International Bridge on Cornwall Island, demanding 'significant progress' be made in talks to resolve the situation.
