EFFORTS TO CLEAN UP J&L SITE REVIVED--Town of Fine Supervisor Mark Hall told US Senator Kirsten Gillibrand and Congressman John Mc.Hugh in public meetings this week the time is now ripe to clean up the former Jones and Laughlin ore processing site in Star Lake, long-vacant and filled with contamination. The developers of the Newton Falls Fine Paper mill want the property to establish a wood chip biomass processing facility.

MC.HUGH:STIMULUS MONEY UP TO STATES, NOT CONGRESS--Representative John Mc.Hugh told those gathered for a constituent input session in Canton yesterday he did not vote for the stimulus package, but it's now law, therefore he is obligated to help bring the funds home by lobbying the Governor's office. He says if he doesn't, somebody else will. RELATED TO THE STIMULUS PACKAGE--Governor Paterson announced yesterday he has ordered the state Labor Department to post all jobs generated by the stimulus in New York.

GOUVERNEUR CO INDICTED FOR COMPUTER 'PEEPING TOM' CASE--44-year-old Dennis Koerick of Antwerp faces a Jefferson County Grand Jury indictment alleging he used a webcam and a computer to surveil his bathroom for his own sexual gratification. He allegedly destroyed the items when he found out he is under investigation.
