KESSEL: 'GREEN CORRIDOR' TALKS PROGRESSING--Richard Kessel, President and CEO of the New York Power Authority, told NYPA Trustees in Massena this week discussions with Hydro-Quebec to establish a pipeline of hydropower and wind power from Canada through the North Country to a central point downstate are going 'very, very well'. Kessel says the point is to increase the amount of renewable energy used in the State, and to reduce customer bills as much as possible.

ARREST MADE IN POTSDAM CHURCH ARSON CASE--Village Police arrested 18-year-old Craig Foley Friday on a count of Third Degree Arson, a Felony alleging he participated in the desecration of St.Mary's Church sanctuary by fire last October. Foley was arraigned before Town Justice Jim Mason and released to probation until a Village Court appearance.

RUCKUS WITH COURT SECURITY BRINGS FELONY CHARGE FOR MASSENA MAN--Sheriff's Detectives say 42-year-old Terry Derouchie of Route 56 allegedly became angry in St.Lawrence County Family Court Friday morning, and threatened his ex-wife in the parking lot with his metal cane. Security intervened; Derouchie allegedly refused to put down the cane and became combative, striking one in the face with his fist. Derouchie was charged with Felony, Second Degree Assault; arraigned before Canton Justice MIchael Crowe and released after posting bail.

ARREST FOR ASSAULT AT SCHOOL--State Police based in Malone charged 16-year-old Kevin Cook of Cook Road, Hogansburg Thursday morning on a count of Misdemeanor, Third Degree Assault alleging he assaulted both a teacher and a building principal at Salmon River Central School. Further details were not available. Cook was arraigned before a Fort Covington Justice and jailed on 500 dollars cash bail or 1000 dollars bond.
