ST. REGIS FALLS SCHOOL VOTERS SAY NO TO BUDGET--Taxpayers in the nearby Franklin County district rejected with a tally of 127-88 Tuesday a spending plan that had a bottom line of about 7.6 million dollars, a spending hike of 0.22 percent, and a levy hike of 6 percent. ALL BUDGETS IN ST. LAWRENCE COUNTY PASSED TUESDAY BY WIDE MARGINS.
CIVIC CENTER ASBESTOS TESTING RESULTS DUE BACK THIS WEEK--Potsdam Village Administrator Mike Wile told Trustees this week there may still be some friable asbestos insulation in places that cannot be seen. Most of the asbestos in the building was either abated or removed from the early 1980's to about 2000 in a series of projects.
MILK PRICE UP FOR MONTH, WAY DOWN FOR THE YEAR--The USDA is reporting an average price per hundredweight of $11.80 in April, up 30 cents from March but down $6.40 for the year-to-date.
