NEW ST. LAWRENCE COUNTY DAIRY PRINCESS CROWNED BY SISTER--Kristin King, a 16-year-old sophomore at Madrid-Waddington Central School, is the Dairy Princess for 2009; crowned at last night's pageant in Canton by her sister Sara, who won the title last year. King is involved in 4-H, a High Honor Roll student, and a multi-sport student-athlete. The Princess is the main promoter of the dairy industry to schoolchildren around the county, speaking on the origin of dairy foods and their health benefits.

CRASH BRINGS SERIOUS DWI CHARGE FOR NEWTON FALLS MAN--Sheriff's Deputies say 20-year-old Erik Swinyer of County Route 60 allegedly drove into a tree off State Route 3 in Fine early this morning, and was hurt. He allegedly had a BAC of .18%, more than twice the legal limit. Swinyer was charged with Aggravated DWI and speeding, and released on town court tickets.

DEAL SIGNED FOR CANTON-POTSDAM HOSPITAL PURCHASE OF ST. MARY'S SCHOOL--Print media reports say the Hospital will buy the former parochial school on Lawrence Ave. from developer Jim Sheehan for 600-thousand dollars, and will have it renovated in time for new doctors to move in this July. The Hospital reportedly has no problem with a deed covenant that no abortions will be performed on the site, ever.
