99 NEWS HEADLINES FOR THURSDAY, 5/14/09

POTSDAM SCHOOL SUPERINTENDENT DEFENDS 0.5% LEVY HIKE--Pat Brady told 99 News Wednesday Federal Stimulus money cannot be used to bring down taxes, so additional fund balance and state aid were used to bring the levy down.  Schools around the state will have budget and board votes next Tuesday.

FORMER FORT DRUM SOLDIER JAILED WITHOUT BAIL FOR SKIPPING POTSDAM SENTENCING DATE-28-year-old Roberto Rodriguez pled guilty in January to counts alleging he grabbed a woman and tried to pull her into his vehicle.  Sentencing was slated for March, but Rodriguez was transferred to Oklahoma and did not come back until a superior officer suggested he do so.  When he appeared yesterday, Village Justice Joseph Welch committed Rodriguez without bail.
