OUT-OF-CONTROL HEUVELTON RUBBISH FIRE DAMAGES BARN, THREATENS HOME, VEHICLE--Heuvelton firefighters and mutual aid were summones to 603 Lost Village Road for a blaze on the property of Travis Finley. A garbage fire was driven by high winds close to Finley's residence and a fire department vehicle. Nobody was hurt; trucks were on the scene from about 12:40pm to a little after 2.

FORMER PRISON WORKER ADMITS TO SEX WITH INMATE--42-year-old Lisa Vaughn of Carthage, the former laundry supervisor at Gouverneur Correctional Facility, pled guilty in St. Lawrence County Court Monday to a count of Third Degree Rape, for relations with an inmate. She is expected to be sentenced in May to probation. The Vaughn arrest resulted in two more arrests related to similar activities.

RUSSELL:FLAT SCHOOL AID AS BAD AS CUTS--Addie Jenne Russell, the 118th Assembly District representative to Albany, says the 2009 dollar does not go as far as the 2008 dollar, so the fiscal picture for schools is still difficult without major losses in aid thanks to Federal stimulus funding.

$800K TO SLU FOR FOUR-YEAR ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY PROJECT--The Andrew W.Mellon Foundation has awarded St. Lawrence University funding to mount a collaborative research effort looking at the environmental footprints of proposed activities, both short- and long-term.
