2005 POTSDAM BURGLARY SUSPECT ARRESTED IN MALONE--More information from a story posted yesterday...28-year-old Phillip Perry of Malone was picked up in Malone Thursday on a warrant charging him with felony counts related to an August, 2005 burglary on Clinton Street in Potsdam where a purse was stolen. A checkbook inside the purse was used to float numerous bouncers in both St. Lawrence and Franklin Counties. Perry was arraigned and jailed on 10-thousand dollars cash bail or 20-thousand dollars bail bond. Perry's co-defendant, Lonnie Bell of Malone was arrested in January of last year.

PYRITES CHURCH VANDALISM SUSPECT PLEADS GUILTY--18-year-old Anthony Leonard was in St. Lawrence County Court yesterday to plead guilty to a count of 3rd degree Burglary, admitting he broke into St. Paul's Oratory in Pyrites last summer and broke stained glass windows, tore up pews, and gutted a piano among other crimes. Leonard, of Pyrites is expected to be sentenced in May to probation, community service, and a restitution order.

LARGE GRANTS HEADED FOR NORTH COUNTRY FROM STIMULUS PACKAGE--About 164-thousand dollars has been awarded to Cerebral Palsy in Canton as part of funding for community health centers, and a 162-thousand dollar grant has been awarded to the St. Regis Mohawk Tribe for energy efficiency projects.
